MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Police in Tennessee have tied the car used in the killing of rapper Young Dolph to a shooting that left a woman dead and another person injured just days before the rapper was killed, police said Monday.
The same Mercedes-Benz was used in shooting on Nov. 12 in the city of Covington, which is located 40 miles north of Memphis, Captain Jack Howell of the Covington Police Dept. told The Associated Press.
Howell said the Mercedes had followed another vehicle out of a nighttime football game. Two people got out of the Mercedes and fired 40 rounds from their rifles into the other car.
Two female victims were shot. One woman died from her wounds, and the other victim remains in the hospital.
Evidence from the Mercedes ties the two suspects to the deadly shooting, police say.
Covington police are working with authorities in Memphis and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on the search for the two suspects. Police believe they’re from Memphis.
Young Dolph was killed as he walked into Makeda’s Cookie shop last week. He was 36-years-old.
The Mercedes-Benz was found by police on Sunday.
