Carlee Russell Finally Admits To Faking Abduction, Asks Public For “Prayers”

ALABAMA- Carlee Russell admitted on Monday that she was never abducted earlier this month.

“There was no kidnapping, my client didn’t see a baby,” Russell’s attorney, Emory Anthony, wrote in a statement that was read at a press conference.

Neither Russell nor Anthony were present at the conference.

The statement added “My client didn’t leave the Hoover area. My client apologizes for her actions to this community… Carlee asks for your forgiveness & prayers.”

25-year-old Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell called 911 on Thursday around 9:34 p.m. to report a toddler she saw walking along the side of Interstate 459 South near Birmingham, according to the Hoover Police Department.

When officers arrived at the scene, Russell’s car and some of her belongings were found near-by, but police didn’t find her or the toddler she called 911 about.

Carlee appeared 49 hours later at her home. She was taken to a hospital for an evaluation but stop cooperating with investigators.

Police say she searched for bus price tickets and movies on kidnapping on the day she faked her abduction.

Russell initially told that she was kidnapped by a white man with orange hair.

Crime Stoppers revealed it would not give a refund to those who contributed to the $63, 378 donated to help in the search for Russell.

No charges will be filed against Russell at this time.
