FLORIDA- A cause of death has been released for a 2-year-old boy whose body was found inside of an alligator last month, police said.
Taylen Mosley died of drowning, according to an autopsy conducted by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner, according to the New York Daily News.
The boy’s father, Thomas Mosley, 25, was arrested in connection with his death and for the murder of Taylen’s mother, 20-year-old Pashun Jeffrey.
Jeffrey was found stabbed to death in her St. Petersburg apartment on March 30.
Police searched for the toddler hours after his mother was found dead but were unable to locate. The following day, police were alerted that an alligator was seen with a human body in his mouth.
The alligator was killed, and Taylen’s remains were recovered.
Mosley is accused of murdering Jeffrey and then throwing Taylen’s into a lake.
Police said the horrific killings came hours after Mosley threw a party to celebrate his 21st birthday, but there is no motive for the killings.
Mosley was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
He has pleaded not guilty.
