Chipotle Worker Beaten By Couple Over Extra Chicken Charge

NORTH CAROLINA – A couple is being sought by police for allegedly beating a Chipotle worker after being charged for an extra order of chicken, police said.

Kayla Pyle, 34, and Jamel Williams, 36, placed an order at a South Carolina Chipotle on Dec. 10 when an employee said Pyle’s request for extra chicken would cost more and an argument ensued, according to police.

The unidentified 20-year-old employee was reportedly so upset with the interaction that she decided to end her shift early and walk out of the Chipotle around 9 p.m., the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said.

It’s unclear exactly what was said during the heated argument.

As she attempted to exit through one side of the door, Williams, who is almost 300 pounds, entered from the other side and approached the victim.

“He pushed her to the floor and began hitting her, pulling her hair, and jerking her around,” police said in a statement.

Pyle then jumped in and struck the employee.

Video footage from inside of the eatery shows the Chipotle worker falling to the floor and curling up to protect herself.

Police were called to the scene, but the couple had fled in a Dodge Charger.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify the couple with the help of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

Arrest warrants charge Williams with assault and battery in the first-degree and charges Pyle with assault and battery were issued on Wednesday.
