Corrections officer arrested for allegedly slapping inmate
FLORIDA- A corrections officer is facing time on the other side of the bars after allegedly smacking an inmate in the face.
Alicia Hathaway, who works at the Lake County Detention Center was arrested on Friday and charged with battery, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Ahandcuffed inmate reportedly cursed at Hathaway on Jan. 21, and was allegedly spit on afterwards. Another officer also responded to the incident.
The Lake County Detention Center says it has began the termination process for Hathaway.
Hathaway had been working at the Detention Center since 2016.
Hathaway was released 30 minutes after her arrest.
