FLORIDA- A couple have been arrested and charged after their 3-year-old child died after overdosing on fentanyl and had to be resuscitated, according to reports.
Jaelynn Carter was found unresponsive and unconscious at about 7 p.m. on Saturday when first responders arrived at a residence, NBC Miami reported.
The child was intubated and given Narcan, used for opiate overdoses.
Toxicology reports showed that she ingested fentanyl.
Both parents tested positive for fentanyl.
Police charge Janett Carter, 38, and Walter Carter, 40, with child neglect with great bodily harm.
Janet faces a charge of cocaine possession, and probation violation related to an unrelated grand theft charge.
Walter was also charged with cannabis possession.
