Matthew Luke and Jaimie Starr, both 34, have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Devin Bisesi.
Luke is the biological father and Starr was the stepmother.
According to WXWY, the couple were charged after authorities say the couple made a makeshift cage by putting a toy chest on top of the playpen, which caused the boys neck to get stuck and causing him to die from asphyxiation.
When police found the boy on March 18th, he was found unresponsive, lifeless and “cold to the touch.”
Authorities say that before calling the police, the couple took time the little boy’s body out of his makeshift cage and cleaned the home.
Both were arraigned on Friday and have entered not guilty pleas.
