GEORGIA- A couple has been charged for murder, in the death of their 5-year-old daughter, who was starved to death.
Porscha Danielle Mickens, 29, and Jerrail Maurice Mickens, 31, were arrested on Tuesday at their home on charges of felony murder and first-degree cruelty in the June death of their daughter Kylie L. Mickens.
Mickens was taken to a Hospital on June 7, where the staff took notice of the child’s emaciated body, and contacted authorities. The 5-year-old girl weighed just 7 pounds, reports WMAZ.
The little girl was taken to a second Hospital by authorities, where she died a day later.
The average weight for a 5-year-old is between 34-50 pounds.
An autopsy revealed the girl died from malnutrition and dehydration, due to medical neglect. A coroner ruled Mickens death a homicide.
Both parents are currently being held in jail, without bail.
