LOS ANGELES – Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock has died at 49.
The singer, whose real name is Seth Binzer, died at his Los Angeles home on Monday, June 24, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
There is no cause of death.
Binzer and band member Bret “Epic” Mazur formed a group called the Brimstone Sluggers, which later became their band Crazy Town in Los Angeles in 1995.
The band’s song “Butterfly”, which was the third single from their album, skyrocketed the music charts, becoming a 2000’s anthem.
The band released a second album called Darkhouse in 2002 and broke up after they were unable to reach the numbers they gained before. They got back together under the Brimstone Sluggers in 2015 and then when Mazur left in 2017, they became known as Crazy Town X.
Binzer had publicly struggled with drug addiction, as he appeared on the VH1 show Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.
He was hospitalized in 2012 after he lost consciousness and fell into a coma.
That same year, Binzer was arrested for drug possession and battery. He was also arrested in 2022 on DUI charges.
