De La Soul co-founder Trugoy The Dove has died at 54.
The group’s rep confirmed his death to TheGrio.
The rapper, whose real name is David Jolicoeur, had struggled with heart complications in the past.
Jolicoeur’s death comes a month before De La Soul’s music is set to premiere on streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and other streaming sources.
Jolicoeur formed De La Soul with Kelvin “Posdnuos” Mercer and Vincent Mason, aka DJ Maseo in the mid-1980’s.
De La Soul released eight albums.
