Defense In XXXTentacion Murder Trial Suggests Drake May Have Killed Rapper

FLORIDA- Defense lawyers for the three suspects accused of killing rapper XXXTentacion suggested that rapper Drake may have been behind his 2018 murder, according to reports.

Trayvon Newsome, Michael Boatwright and Dedrick Williams are accused of robbing and fatally shooting XXXTentacion after leaving a motorcycle store.

All three men have been charged with first-degree murder.

A fourth suspect, Robert Allen, is expected to testify against the three other suspects, after he accepted a plea. As part of his deal, his charge was lowered from first-degree murder to second-degree murder.

But the defense team for the three defendants argued that investigators didn’t probe the beef that Drake and XXXTentacion had around the rapper’s death.

XXXTentaccion, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, had went on social media, claiming that if he were to end up dead, Drake would be the reason, but he later retracted that statement.

Prosecutors said the deadly shooting was the result of a robbery gone wrong, and there is no evidence that Drake is linked to the shooting, according to The Post.

Williams, Trayvon and Boatwright are accused of going to Riva Motorsports on June 18, 2018, to buy masks with plans to allegedly commit armed robberies but decided to rob XXXTentacion when they saw him inside of the store, according to prosecutors.

When XXXTentacion left the store, and drove off in his BMW, Williams cut him off with his SUV as Boatwright and Newsome ambushed XXXTentacion’s car and robbed him, prosecutors said in court.

The three men took about $50,000 that XXXTentacion had inside of his Louis Vuitton bag before Boatwright shot him multiple times “without any provocation,” prosecutors said.

Some of the suspects allegedly flashed the rapper’s money after the deadly robbery on social media.

Boatwroght’s lawyer, Joseph Kimok, said his client was home sleeping at the time of the murder and that cellphone data which was linked to him was a community phone used by several men.

And even though Boatwright was on social media flashing money after the killing, his lawyer says the money belonged to Allen.

If Boatwright, 28, Newsome, 24, and Williams, 26, are convicted of first-degree murder, they will face life in prison. They’re also facing robbery charges.
