DJ KaySlay Dies At 55 After Long Battle With COVID-19

NYC- New York’s DJ KaySlay has died at the age of 55 after health complications due to COVID-19.

DJ KaySlay, whose real name is Keith Grayson, died at 55 on April 17 from a months-long battle with COVID-19,

The legendary DJ, producer, label exec and magazine owner was battling for four months after he was diagnosed with the coronavirus.

His family has released a statement:

“Our hearts are broken by the passing of Keith Grayson, professionally known as DJ Kay Slay. A dominant figure in Hip Hop culture with millions of fans worldwide, DJ Kay Slay will be remembered for his passion and excellence with a legacy that will transcend generations,” read the statement, “In memory of DJ Kay Slay, our family wishes to thank all of his friends, fans, and supporters for their prayers and well wishes during this difficult time. We ask that you respect our privacy as we grieve this tragic loss.”

DJ KaySlay began as graffiti artist named “DEZ”, releasing his debut album The Streetsweeper, Vol. 1 in May 2003.

The album featured collabs with Eminem, Fat Joe, Black Rob, The Lox, 50 Cent, Mobb Deep, Scarface, Craig Mack, Ball, MJG and others. The album landed on No. 22 on the Billboard 200 album chart in June 2003.
