LOS ANGELES- Rapper Drakeo the Ruler’s mother is planning on filing a lawsuit over his death after he was fatally stabbed at a music festival Saturday.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Darrell Caldwell, was stabbed backstage at the ‘Once Upon A Time’ music festival. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the rapper’s mother, Darrylene Corniel said her son was stabbed in his neck before he was set to perform.
Corneil is blaming the venue’s security for failing to protect her son from being murdered. She says that a group of “40 to 60 people swamped” her son’s entourage before jumping them.
Corneil told Rolling Stone: “Even if you have metal detectors, even if you pat them down, you let those people come in there. You had more people come in than you were supposed to.”
The rapper was at the music festival with his brother, fellow rapper, Ralfy the Plug, whose real name is Devonte Caldwell.
The festival was organized by Live Nation and had a line-up of artists that included 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and others.
Live Nation says they are investing the incident.
