NASHVILLE- A drive-by shooting on Saturday left two people injured as they were walking out of a church after a funeral service for a teen who was fatally shot earlier this month, police said.
Metro Nashville Police Department said the shooting happened outside of the New Season Church, where a funeral was being held for 19-year-old Terriana Johnson.
Shots began to ring out as Johnson’s hearse was parked out in front of the church and people were exiting the service.
Police say a shooter from a Honda Civic fired as the car passed by, striking an 18-year-old woman in the leg and a 25-year-old man in the pelvis, according to local reports.
Both victims are expected to live.
Some attendees who were at the church, fired back at the suspects.
Police are still searching for the 17-year-old suspect charged with criminal homicide in Johnson’s Nov. 14 fatal shooting at a park.
Police say the teen opened fire on a car that Johnson was riding in, after she got into a fight with the suspect’s sister minutes before.
