Dubai is denying claims that singer R. Kelly was set to perform at a concert there.
Dubai denied these claims on Sunday, after the 52-year-old singer, whose real name is Robert Kelly asked a Chicago judge last week if he could travel outside of the states so that he could perform at some concerts in the sheikhdom and meet the sheikhdoms ruling Al Maktoum family.
In a statement that was released, Dubai says “Authorities in Dubai have not received any request for a performance by singer R. Kelly nor are there any venues that have been booked.”
Yikes. Is Kelly lying & if so, why?
Here’s a tweet from Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg in which he states that R. Kelly has a “contract with a legitimate promoter.”
#RKelly has a contract with a legitimate promoter. Any information included in his motion to travel was from that contract. A copy was provided to the prosecutor. The contract requires that he make himself available to meet with the Royal Family, and was for performances in Dubai

Kelly’s attorney said last week that it’s been very difficult for the singer to pay for legal fees, child support and other fees due to the fact that he’s had two cancelled concerts and he is unable to travel outside of America to perform.
