Dunkin’ Donuts worker fatally punched man over alleged racial slur

FLORIDA- A Dunkin’ Donuts employee has been charged after fatally punching an elderly man who allegedly called him a racial slur, police say.

Corey Pujols, 27, was arrested on Tuesday on attempted murder in connection to the death of a 77-year-old man who died on May 4 at the Dunkin’ Donuts store where Pujols worked, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

Pujols told police that the man had been “rude” to him at the store, before allegedly calling him a racial slur. When Pujols confronted the man about the slur, he allegedly repeated it.

Police say Pujols then punched the man in the face, who hit the concrete floor, and suffered trauma to his head.

Pujols was originally charged with battery on a person older than 65. His charges were upgraded Friday, after the victim died.

Pujols faces up to 30 years in prison.
