Eminem’s father Marshall Bruce Mather Jr. has died at the age of 67.
He died this week after suffering a heart attack at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Eminem never had a relationship with his father, and was very open about his feelings in his songs, as he’s never been one to shy away from how he really feels.
In his song “Cleanin Out My Closet” Eminem spoke about his father leaving him and how it affected him when he spit “My fa***t father must’ve had his panties up in a bunch ‘Cause he split, I wonder if he even kissed me goodbye. No, I don’t, on second thought, I just f**kin’ wished he would die.”
His father married his mother Debbie when she was just 15, and he was 22.
After they split two years later, Debbie was left to raise Eminem on her own in Detroit as Bruce moved on and started a new family.
Eminem had a rocky relationship with his mother as well.
Bruce actually published an open letter in 2001 that was addressed to Eminem, explaining how it was Eminem’s mother who kept him away from him.
They never got go to mend their broken relationship..
