Ex-Indiana Day Care Director Accused Of Giving Kids Melatonin To Sleep

INDIANA- A daycare director was fired after it was discovered that she was giving children melatonin to make them sleep, without the permission of their parents, police said.

The former director of Kidz Life Childcare Ministry at New Life Church is now facing multiple charges after she and another daycare employee allegedly gave 17 kids, whose ages ranged from 1 to 4, melatonin gummies, documents said, reports the Indianapolis Star.

The pastor of the church said he fired Tonya Rachelle Voris after she admitted to giving some of the children melatonin, but the other co-worker was still employed at the daycare.

Several parents told investigators that their children were having complications sleeping and were also suffering from rashes.

Voris was charged with 11 counts of neglect of a dependent and six counts of reckless supervision by a childcare provider.
