Charlotte, N.C.- Family, friends of 19-year-old Jaylin Domonique Craig honored him on what marked a year since he was killed in an altercation with rapper Da Baby.
About 25 people, ages 3 to 65 that included Craig’s friends and family gathered on Saturday with Green T-shirts of Craig’s image, picked up litter with “Keep Charlotte Beautiful” trash grabbers.”
Craig’s family told The Charlotte Observer “We’re doing this as a reflection of the type of person Jaylin was,” Craig’s cousin, Quinae Horsley, said. “Jaylin will forever be in our hearts.”
The 19-year-old was killed in an altercation at a Walmart with rapper Da Baby, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk.
According to the rapper, he says he was with his children, and his girlfriend, when Craig allegedly approached him with a gun. The rapper’s defense is that he had to defend his family, and he did by shooting Craig.
Da Baby was never charged with Craigs death, but was charged and found guilty of a misdemeanor with carrying a a concealed weapon and was given 1 year of unsupervised probation.
