HOUSTON- The family of a 9-year-old boy who’s clinging to life after being crushed at Friday’s Astroworld music Festival have filed a lawsuit against rapper Travis Scott and concert promoters Tuesday.
Era Blount was “trampled nearly to death by other concert goers” which left him in “an induced coma on life support”, the suit states.
Blount suffered swelling to his brain, incurred severe liver and kidney.
According to the family’s lawyer, Ben Crump, Scott, Cactus Jack Records, Live Nation, Scoremore Mgmt., NRG Park and other defendants “egregiously failed in their duty to protect the health, safety, and lives of those in attendance at the concert”.
Friday’s deadly festival resulted in 8 deaths and over 300 people being injured. Blount may be the youngest victim, but a 14-year-old boy was killed.
The lawsuit is seeking more $1 million for defendant’s “grossly negligent conduct”, which allegedly included failing to provide enough security and medical staff on stand-by at the show.
Blount’s father said his son was on his shoulders waiting for Drake’s performance when they were crushed. The father says he couldn’t breathe, and when he awoke from passing out, his son was gone.
