Family who police used excessive force on over an alleged stolen doll get help from Jay-Z’s group

A philanthropy group affiliated with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has offered legal support for the Arizona family that police used excessive force on over a doll that was allegedly stolen from a dollar store.

Team Roc tweeted that the police seen on the video threatening to shoot a pregnant woman & used excessive force should be fired.

In the video that the family says was taken on May 29th, a police officer is seen kicking Dravon Ames legs with excessive force as he screams at him while throwing him against a police car. Then there’s another officer seen threatening to shoot the mother, Iesha Harper while she was holding her baby in her arms, as her other child was right by her side.

The police officer’s were also seen shouting profanity at Ames and Harper, not even allowing them to follow their orders.

The couple has filed a $10 million notice of claim against the city.

This family were obviously treated like animals, and it was all over their little daughter allegedly stealing a doll from a dollar store.

Disgusting & unacceptable.

The Mayor issued an apology to the family saying “It was completely inappropriate and clearly unprofessional. There is no situation in which this behavior is ever close to acceptable. As a mother myself, seeing these children placed in such a terrifying situation is beyond upsetting. I am deeply sorry for what this family went through, and I apologize to our community.”
