ALABAMA- A man has been charged with killing his infant daughter.
Demarcus Treias Smith, 19, was arrested and charged with murder for the death of his daughter, Maliyah Stormi Smith.
Authorities say that officers learned of a 2-month-old girl that was brought into the E.R. by her father on the day of the incident. Medical staff attempted to save the girl, but she died from her injuries, reports AL.com.
Detectives began an investigation which resulted in the girl’s father becoming a suspect.
Maliyah sustained head trauma and internal injuries.
Police say those injuries were sustained while she was in the care of her father.
A GoFundMe campaign set up for Maliyah has raised $265 out of a $3,000 goal as of Sunday.
