Federal are accusing rapper NBA YoungBoy (Never Broke Again) of using drugs while on house arrest and telling his supervising officers that he doesn’t plan on stopping.
In a filing on Feb. 29, prosecutors asked a Louisiana judge to set a hearing for the rapper’s “noncompliant behavior” as he awaits an upcoming trial in July for federal charges. They say he violated a rule that forbids him to “use or unlawfully possess a narcotic drug or other controlled substance” while under house arrest, according to Billboard.
“The undersigned has learned that the defendant has violated [this rule] and has informed his supervising officer that he has no intentions to discontinue using the substance that resulted in the violation,” U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Gathe, Jr. wrote in the filing, the outlet reports.
The filing does not specify what drug YoungBoy is allegedly using.
The rapper was indicted by Louisiana federal prosecutors in March 2021 on charges of “felon in possession of a firearm” after he was allegedly found with two guns in Sept. 2020 in Baton Rouge, La. He was previously convicted in 2017 of aggravated assault with a firearm.
When he was arrested for those charges in California, he was allegedly in possession of another gun in his vehicle, which brought on another case by California federal prosecutors.
He was eventually acquitted of those charges, but still faces a trial in Louisiana over the first indictment.
YoungBoy has been on house arrest for two years and living in Salt Lake City.
His trial is set for July 15, 2024.
