SAN JOSE – A woman allegedly stole an Amazon van because she was in a rush to get back to San Jose, police said.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when an Amazon driver who was making a delivery left the keys in the ignition and the engine running.
Elena Flores, 36, saw the delivery van and decided to get behind the wheel, driving it towards her home in San Jose.
When the driver returned, he realized the van was gone and called 911.
Police tracked the van back to an Amazon facility, where they arrested Flores.
She told them that she was in a rush to get back to her home in San Jose.
Flores, a felon, was charged with felony vehicle theft, and committing a felony while out on bail for another arrest.
