Fetty Wap Made $5 Million With His Music, Didn’t Have To Sell Drugs, Prosecutors

BROOKLYN, NYC – Rapper Fetty Wap is scheduled to be sentenced this week and prosecutors are seeking seven years, saying the rapper made millions in music and didn’t have to sell drugs, according to Insider.

Fetty’s attorney requested that the rapper receive a minimum of 5 years in prison, stating the rapper began dealing drugs during the COVID pandemic to support himself and his family.

Prosecutors responded to Fetty’s attorney’s memo and are requesting that he serve seven years to nine years for allegedly dealing cocaine.

Prosecutors argue that the rapper had a successful career and didn’t have to result to trafficking drugs.
“He had a lucrative career as a rap artist and the ability to make an honest living and provide for himself and his family,” the sentencing memo said. “Indeed, the defendant told the Probation Department that he made $5 million during his music career. Nevertheless, this defendant chose to supplement his income by trafficking large quantities of drugs—
– drugs he knew would ruin lives,” Insider reports.
Fetty is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday in a Brooklyn Federal Court.
