POLK COUNTY- A Florida Deputy shot and killed a woman who allegedly threatened him with a shovel.
Jessiram Hweih Rivera, 24, was pronounced dead at a hospital Thursday after she was shot by Sgt. Sean Speakman.
Police say Speakman was responding to a report of a suspicious woman walking in and out of traffic, reports The New York Post. “She was in an obvious state of agitation and she was holding a shovel,” officials said in a statement to The Post.
Speakman encountered Rivera in a driveway when she allegedly attempted to “raise the shovel” and pointed it at him. She allegedly ignored several commands to drop the shovel, which prompted the officer to shoot Rivera four times.
Speakman is now on administrative leave, pending an investigation…
