FLORIDA – A man associated with rapper Foolio was sentenced Wednesday to prison on attempted murder charges.
Keon Newkirk, 21, who goes by the name “Doloo” was sentenced to serve 15 years for three counts of attempted murder – 5 years for each count, for attempting to kill three teenagers back in 2021, FirstCoastNews reported.
Police say they responded to a call to the 1200 block of 3rd Street East on Sept. 4, 2021, about a report of multiple people being shot. When they arrived on the scene, responding officers learned that two 14-year-old boys and one older teen were near a corner store when a vehicle circled the block and opened fire on them.
The 14-year-old boys were taken to the hospital. One was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg and the other who was shot in the forearm. The older teen was not struck by the gunfire.
Afterwards, police identified Newkirk as a suspect. They conducted a traffic stop and he was arrested where police say they found him in the front seat with a firearm.
Keio Mattews, who was also a juvenile at the time of the shooting was arrested. He was found guilty on Dec. 15, 2023, for possession of a firearm by a juvenile found to have committed a felony act.
His sentencing has been scheduled for March 6.
Doloo has is associated with Florida rapper Foolio and has collaborated with him on songs.
