ORLANDO, FLORIDA- A ride at an Orlando amusement park where a teen fell to his death will be taken down, the park announced Thursday.
14-year-old Tyre Sampson fell 430-feet to his death from the “Orlando Free Fall” at ICON Park on March 24.
An autopsy found that the teen was almost 100 pounds over the ride’s weight limit of 287 pounds, which caused him to slip of his safety harness before hitting the pavement below.
His seat was still locked after he fell out. Sampson suffered trauma to his, torso and neck.
The ride has been closed since his death.
It’s unclear when the ride will be taken down.
