FLORIDA- A couple were asleep while a toddler drowned in a pool, according to police.
The toddler’s mother Amanda Paige Davis and her boyfriend Charner Leon Williams IV have been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child for the death of 23-month-old Athena Blevins.
Police say the toddler drowned after falling into the family’s pool on Saturday.
The couple’s friend found the toddler unresponsive inside of the pool and performed CPR until first responders arrived at the home.
The toddler’s parents were still sleeping when police arrived.
Police found drug paraphernalia during a search of the couple’s home. Police say that they admitted to using heroin, WKNG reports.
The couple also admitted to using cocaine, marijuana and heroin.
