Former boxing champion Robert Easter Jr. was reportedly shot during a robbery this past weekend.
The 31-year-old boxer was approached by a group of men from behind on Sunday around 6:30 p.m., reports WTOL. One of the suspects allegedly demanded that Easter Jr. hand over his jewelry.
Easter Jr. was shot three times when he attempted to flee.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene with two gold chains, three diamond rings and Easter Jr.’s cell phone.
There have been no arrests.
He was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments and listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
The former IBF lightweight champion tweeted early Tuesday “I appreciate all the love im resting up guys I appreciate you all I will recover and be ok.”
