Former Earth, Wind & Fire Drummer Fred White Dies At 67

Former Earth, Wind & Fire Drummer Fred White has died, according to his family.

According to Fred White’s brother Verdine, the drummer died at 67, after he posted a statement on behalf of his family.

“Our family is saddened today
With the loss of an amazing and talented family member,
Our beloved brother Frederick Eugene “Freddie” White.”

“He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels!.”

“Child protégé, member of the EWF ORIGINAL 9, with gold records at the young age of 16 years old!
He was brother number 4 in the family lineup.”

Adding “And we could always count on him to make a seemingly bad situation more light hearted! “He will live in our hearts forever, rest in power beloved Freddie!!.”

White joined Earth, Wind & Fire in 1974 at 19.

He left the band in the 80’s after playing drums foe 10 albums, which included hits like “September”, “Boogie Wonderland” and “Saturday Nite.”

White was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2000, along with other members of the band.

There is no cause of death for White at this time.
