IOWA- A former jail employee has been charged after police say she had a sexual relationship with an inmate.
Investigators say that Kayla Bergom, who worked at the Tama County Jail, is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 29-year-old inmate in a utility closet and in the recreation yard of the jail on multiple occasions, according to KCRG-TV.
The sexual encounters happened between September 2020 and April 2021.
Bergom is facing three counts of sexual misconduct.
She resigned from her position at the jail.
An investigation began in March after another employee at the jail made a complaint.
