Las Vegas- Former NFL player Cierre Wood was arrested on Wednesday after suspicion of child neglect or child abuse, but his charges were elevated to suspicion of first-degree murder after the 5-year-old girl died on Thursday.
The 28-year-old appeared in court on Thursday, on suspicion of first-degree murder charges.
According to NBC news, Wood is being held without bond.
The girls mother, Amy Taylor, 25, was also arrested and charged with child neglect or child abuse. Taylor is also Wood’s girlfriend. She’ll be appearing in court again on Friday.
KSNV reports that 5-year-old La’Rayah Davis had bruises on her torso, legs and stomach. Prosecutors are waiting for the autopsy report to come out in full, but so far it’s been reported that La’Rayah suffered a large liver laceration, which is usually caused by blunt force trauma from what I may recall.
