Former Police Officer Derek Chauvin, Convicted Of Killing George Floyd Is Stabbed In Prison

ARIZONA – Former police officer Derek Chauvin, convicted of killing George Floyd, was stabbed and seriously injured at a federal prison, according to reports.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed an inmate was seriously attacked at the Federal Correctional Institution but declined to identify the inmate.

Federal authorities said Chauvin needed life-saving measures and transported to a local hospital.

Visitation at the facility, which holds about 380 inmates, has been suspended due to the attack.

Chauvin was sentenced in June 2021 to serve 22 years in prison for killing Floyd, an unarmed black man. He kneeled on his neck for 9½ minutes as Floyd pleaded for him to stop, repeating “I can’t breathe.”

Three other officers were also charged in Floyd’s death.
