LARGO, Florida: The foster parents of 2 year old boy say the “system failed him” after he was killed by his biological mother.
2 year old Jordan Belliveau was found dead in the woods of McMullen Road on Tuesday afternoon after being returned to biological mother.
His foster parents are devastated over his death.
Sam and Juliet Warren told ABC News “Jordan came into our home January 2017, and he was returned to his mother on May 31st, 2018,” Sam Warren said. “We are devastated by his loss, [if not] for a court order, he would still be safe in our home.”
Court documents obtained by ABC News show that that the biological mother whose name is Charisse Stinson had a history of domestic violence and was served an eviction notice just two weeks before Belliveau was killed.
Had child services investigated these things, they would have clearly seen that Stinson didn’t have a stable environment for the child to return to her.
Eckerd Connects, which is the overseeing agency to “Directions To Living” released this statement to ABC News:
“We are heartbroken by the news of Jordan’s death and will continue praying for peace and comfort for this family and all those who loved Jordan. The local child welfare system has been involved with this child and family and there is an open investigation through the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office’s Child Protection Investigation Division. The Department of Children and Families has initiated an internal review of this case and we will be working with DCF to release information as it becomes available.”
Stinson has been charged with first-degree in connection to her son’s death.
