MEMPHIS- Rapper Gangsta’s funeral service was held on Saturday.
Hundreds of families, friends and fans gathered to say their final goodbye to the rapper whose real name is Lola “Gangsta Boo” Mitchell.
The service was streamed online and held at the Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi. Those who attended and spoke were family members, musicians and politicians, according to local reports.
“Lola was not only a Memphis legend,” said Shelby County Commissioner Mikell Lowery, adding “she was a Hip-Hop legend,” Actionnews5 reported.
Gangsta Boo, named “The Queen of Memphis”, was the first female member of the rap group Three 6 Mafia, making the way for Chastity “La Chat” Daniels, who became the second female rapper in the Oscar-winning group.
Michell, 43, was found dead inside of her home on January 1. There is still no cause of death.
