CONNECTICUT- A gas station clerk has been charged after police say she allegedly staged a robbery at her job.
Jamie Darouse, 31, was arrested on Wednesday for the robbery, police said in a statement, reports The New York Post.
Darouse called 911 on May 24 to report a robbery at a gas station where she worked at, police said in a statement on Thursday. She told police that a male suspect who was wearing a face mask, a hat and sunglasses stormed into the gas station and gave her a demand notice that said he had a gun.
Police say that Darouse said she handed over cash from the register and deposited money to the suspect which totelled to $8,000. The suspect then fled in a getaway car that was driven by a second person.
Investigators discovered that Darouse had set the robbery up with Khari Ruffin, 19, and a second male suspect that was the getaway driver.
Darouse was charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, falsely reporting an incident and making a false statement to police.
Ruffin was charged with third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.
Police are still searching for the third suspect.
