NORTH CAROLINA- Police have arrested a second suspect in the murder of a 5-year-old boy.
According to WLOS, Aolani Takemi Marie Petit, 23, was arrested on Tuesday for her involvement in the August death of Cannon Hinnant.
Petit was charged with felony accessory after the fact.
During Petit’s first court appearance on Wednesday, prosecutor’s alleged that she knew her boyfriend, Darrius Sessoms, 25, had shot Cannon Hinnant, and helped him flee town.
Petit is also accused of providing Sessoms with transportation to flee from authorities.
Police say Sessoms allegedly left town in a 2019 Toyota Corolla, and was found inside of a home in Goldsboro.
Sessoms was charged with first-degree murder for fatally shooting Cannon, as he was riding his bike with his two sisters. Police, and witnesses say that Sessoms allegedly walked right up to the boy, pointed a gun at his head and shot him.
Sessoms had just eaten dinner with Cannon’s father, before he was killed.
Police don’t have a motive for Cannon’s murder at this time.
