MILWAUKEE- A grandfather has been charged in the brutal death of his 12-year-old grandson, police say.
Andrez Martina, 54, used a sledgehammer, mallet and coat rack to beat his grandson, Andre Smith II for up to 90 minutes, according to local news outlets.
Smith died at a Hospital on Sunday. His cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries to the head.
Martina told police he awoke at 3 a.m. on Sunday to find money missing from his wallet. The victim and an 8-year-old who was sleeping at the home denied taking the money, according to a complaint.
The complaint says that after Martina beat the victim, he took him into a shower to wash his blood off. The boy wasn’t taken to the hospital until 6 hours later.
The story took a shocking twist when Martina admitted to police that he had killed a boy in 1989, FOX News reports.
Martina was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, neglecting a child, physical abuse of a child with repeated acts causing death and other charges.
Martina is accused of breaking the 8-year-old’s finger and causing bruises to his body.
