OKLAHOMA- A grandmother is facing murder charges after her 3-year-old granddaughter was found dead in a trash can.
Police arrived at the home of Becky Ann Vreeland, 60, on Tuesday and found the body of a deceased girl, according to a press release by the Oklahoma City Police Department.
“Upon arrival, officers were told there was a deceased child at the residence,” the press release stated. “Officers found the body of three-year-old Riley Nolan in a residential trash receptacle at the home. The child had obvious signs of trauma to her body.”
Vreeland had just been granted custody of Nolan.
There is an ongoing investigation.
Vreeland has been charged with first-degree murder and child neglect, reports PEOPLE.
