NEW HARTFORD, CONN- A man told police that he killed his wife, after they got into an argument over guinea pigs as he appeared in court on Monday, NBC reports.
Police found the body of 30-year-old Jessica Edwards on Friday in a wooded area.
Hutchinson, 22, told police that him and his wife had been arguing over guinea pigs for days. He says on May 10, his wife allegedly hit him over his head with a laptop and then grabbed a knife.
Both began to get into a struggle when Hutchinson says he kneeled on Edward’s neck and back. He says he allegedly walked away to attend to their 7-month-old child when he realized Edwards was dead.
Hutchinson told police that he then left his wife’s body on the floor for an entire day, as her family was calling him to find out her whereabouts. He was also taking care of their son.
That day, Hutchinson wrapped Edwards body in a blanket, which her sister witnessed and later went to police, falsifying a missing person’s report.
He’s been charged with first-degree murder.
