GEORGIA- A paramedic who allegedly admitted to being high while driving an ambulance and killing a patient has been arrested after he fled the scene.
Police say Kevin McCorvey, 34, is accused of flipping the ambulance before crashing it in a ditch last Friday outside of Atlanta.
The crash killed 66-year-old Wilton Thomason, according to The Post. First responders attempted to save the patient, but were unable to save him.
After the patient was pronounced dead, police said they had to stop McCorvey and another paramedic who was in the ambulance from fleeing the scene in an Uber.
Police say that McCorvey smelled of marijuana and alcohol and that he admitted to taking Adderall before driving the ambulance.
McCorvey was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, felony involuntary manslaughter , DUI, reckless conduct and other offenses.
