Nine Trey member who was stabbed for leaving gang sentenced with an apology from judge

NEW YORK CITY- A Nine Trey Bloods member who was stabbed in jail was sentenced to five and a half years on Thursday that came with an apology.

38-year-old Roland “Ro Murda” Martin was stabbed 9 times after he announced to other Nine Trey members in jail that he wanted out.

Martin has been at the MDC in Brooklyn after pleading guilty to robbing a rival of rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and other gang related charges.

According to The New York Daily News, Judge Paul Engelmayer said that he would have sentenced Martin to two additional years if it wasn’t for the stabbing that he received . The judge told Martin “I am so sorry our prison system was not able to protect you from retribution”

Martin suffered two collapsed lungs, a lacerated liver and his wrist was wounded.

Before Martin was sentenced, he told the judge “I left that life behind me. I publicly resigned from Nine Trey and nearly paid my life for it.”
