WISCONSIN- Jacob Blake made a court appearance from his Hospital bed on Friday, pleading not guilty to third-degree sexual assault, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
The criminal complaint was filed before Blake was shot by police, and stems from an alleged assault, which took place in May. This is according to ABC News.
Blake’s lawyer, Patrick Cafferty, entered not guilty pleas for all the charges.
Blake was unarmed last month, when he was shot 7 times in his back, by a white police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as he walking away.
Police had received a phone call about a domestic disturbance. Blake was attempting to breakup an altercation between two of his neighbors, and ended up almost losing his own life.
Rusten Sheskey, the police officer who shot Blake, and two other officers who were on the scene, Vincent Arenas and Brittany Meronek, have been put on leave while the state is investigating.
If convicted of the sexual assault charge, which is a felony, Blake could face up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000.
Protests in Wisconsin for Blake have resulted in the deaths, as many are demanding justice for him. The protests continue all over the country.
