Jacqueline Avant Murder Suspect Arrested

BEVERLY HILLS- Police have arrested a man accused of killing philanthropist Jacqueline Avant during a burglary in her California home, police said Tuesday.

Police have identified the suspect as 29-year-old Aariel Maynor of Los Angeles.

Maynor was found at a separate burglary an hour after Avant was killed. They were responding to a report of a shooting when they found Maynor in a backyard. Police said the career criminal had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot.

He was arrested and taken to a hospital.

Police found an AR-15 rifle, which they say connected him to Avant’s killing. He was also on parole at the time of the shooting.

Avant, 81, was found shot in her home Wednesday. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It’s unclear how many times Avant was shot and if her death was random.

Avants husband, legendary music executive Clarence Avant, was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
