Japan’s ex-prime minister Shinzo Abe is fighting for his life after he was shot while giving a campaign speech on Friday, according to reports.
Abe collapsed and was bleeding after he was shot from behind during a speech, reports the Kyodo news agency.
He was reportedly shot in his neck and on the left side of his chest.
Police arrested the suspected shooter, Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, and he now faces murder charges. Authorities say a gun was recovered from him.
Police say the gun appeared to be homemade.
