JayDaYoungan Faces 5 Years In Prison After Being Indicted

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE)- Rapper JayDaYoungan may be facing up to five years in federal prison after he was indicted by a grand jury Friday on a weapons charge.

The rapper, whose real name is Javarious Scott, allegedly was caught with a 9mm handgun during a traffic stop on Oct. 29.

The 23-year-old rapper was not permitted to receive a firearm while he was already under indictment in Harris County, Texas. He faces state charges of illegal possession of Oxycodone and assault on a pregnant woman.

Scott’s new indictment alleges he “did willfully receive a firearm … said firearm having been shipped in and transported in interstate commerce.”

If convicted, Scott faces a federal prison sentence of up to 5 years.

Scott was arrested Oct. 29 after the Audi he was driving was pulled over by police. Police had been on the lookout for the vehicle after receiving information that the license plate displayed had been unlawfully switched.

Police say that Marijuana smoke filled the car, which came out when the rapper opened the car window. He was also unable to provide registration and insurance paperwork for the vehicle. After Scott stepped out of the car, police say they discovered a loaded Ruger 9mm pistol from the driver’s side floorboard.
