JetBlue Passenger Held Razor Blade To Woman’s Throat During Flight

A man was arrested after he held a razor blade to a woman’s throat while on a JetBlue flight Monday, according to the Justice Department.

A release from U.S. Attorney’s Office on Wednesday states that 41-year-old Merril Darrell Fackrell was charged Tuesday with carrying a weapon on an aircraft and assault with a dangerous weapon in the special aircraft jurisdiction, according to The Hill.

The plane that Fackrell was on had departed from JFK International Airport in New York and was en route to Salt Lake City. He was seated next to married couple.

Fackrell is accused of putting his hand in front of the woman’s screen and telling her to pause her movie. The woman reportedly removed her headphones and noticed that he had a knife inches away from her throat.

The woman’s husband went to the front of the plane to seek help, as she attempted to run away from Fackrell, who grabbed her shoulder and tried to stop her.

Authorities were able to “secure” the weapon, which was described as wood-handled straight edge razor with a one-to-two-inch blade.

There is an active investigation.
