Jury In Rapper Young Dolph’s Murder Trial Will Come From Outside Of Memphis

MEMPHIS – Jurors in the murder trial of two men accused of killing rapper Young Dolph will come from outside of Memphis due to media attention a judge ruled Friday.

The judge made the decision in favor of a change of venue motion filed by Justin Johnson’s lawyer, who argued earlier this month in a hearing that his client can’t get a fair trial before Memphis jurors due to “public visceral outrage”, AP reports.

Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was ambushed in a cookie store as he was visiting his hometown to hand out turkeys for Thanksgiving and see relatives.

Two other men were charged in connection to Dolph’s murder.

Hernandez Govan plead guilty to organizing Dolph’s killing. He has no trial date as of now.

Jermarcus Johnson pleaded guilty in June to three counts of serving as an accessory after the killing by helping Smith and Johnson, his brother.

Johnson is accused of helping the two murder suspects of communicate by cellphone as they were on the run. He also helped one of them communicate with his probation officer.
