Jury Selection In YSL Trial Expected To Last Months

ATLANTA- Jury selection for the YSL trial is expected to last months, according to a report.

Fulton County Chief Judge Ural Glanville gave an overview of what’s to come in the next several weeks in court. In addition to another group of 300 potential jurors being summoned on Feb. 24, another group of 300 jurors will be brought in on March 17, according to AJC.

The new group now brings the total number of potential jurors summoned to be around 1,200.

The 600 additional jurors summoned will have to go through the same process the original group of 613 went through in January and February. They will be required to watch a four-hour reading of the indictment, fill out questionnaires and can then ask questions or raise concerns they have if they wish to be excused from the trial, reports AJC.

Glanville said the amount of time questioning and excusing jurors depends on how many jurors are examined each day.

“Just for your basic juror math, if we examine five a day, that is four months. If you examine a full panel (12) a day, that’s about two and a half months,” Glanville said.

Glanville said the goal is to qualify 90 jurors.

317 have been excused as of Tuesday, according to outlet.
